Hi, I’m Nena.
I am a multitude of things, but, as of right now, I am mainly a second-year medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. I completed my undergraduate work at Texas A&M University. I graduated in 2017, with a B.A. in Biology and minors in English and (almost) Chemistry. I love both science and literature, but when I started medical school, I found it more and more difficult to read and write as much as I wanted to. I created this site in an attempt to flex my writer’s muscles and to challenge myself to incorporate more of my artistic abilities into my busy medical student lifestyle.
My plans for this site is just that – to write, to create, to flex the mind. I have lots of content in mind, but a lot of it will naturally concern my life as a medical student. I plan to write advice articles including things like “How To Get Into Medical School – For the High School Student & College Student” and “Things To Consider If You Might Want To Become a Doctor.” I also hope to include content on topics that are close to my heart and may be politically controversial like abortion, animal rights in science, and environmentalism. On the opposite side of the spectrum, I may include fictional content, as this is the type of writing that I first fell in love with.
Regardless of what you like to read, I hope you find something in my writing that intrigues, challenges, and maybe even angers you. I also hope you find my pieces helpful and inspirational. I love conversation so if you have a question, comment, request, etc., head to the “contact” tab of my website and fill out the form. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!
P.S. If you’re wondering why I “almost” got a minor in Chemistry – it’s a long story and I might write about it someday, so check back later for that post!
